From which part of the body should I measure the temperature?
You can measure your temperature from different parts of the body: anus, ear, mouth and armpit. The measurement of the temperature from the anus is the most accurate. Normal values of temperature from the anus are approximately: 36.2 C - 37.7 C.
The ear measurement is also very accurate and extremely fast as it completes in 1 second.
For oral measurement, the tip of the thermometer should be placed under the tongue. Normal values of oral temperature are about 0.3 C-0.8 C. lower than anal.
In the armpit, the measurement takes longer than other methods. In adults, the results of the axillary measurement are lower than those of the anus by about 0.5 C -1.5 C. In infants, this difference is much smaller.
