Bepanthol was created in 1944 (then as "Bepanthen"). It was the first cream that had provitamin B5 as an active ingredient, whose regenerative properties in cell metabolism had recently been discovered. Provitamin B5 (also known as dexpanthenol) is derived from pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and while it was first discovered in 1931, its important role in cell metabolism and skin-beneficial properties were discovered much later.
The effectiveness of the original Bepanthol Cream is based on its unique composition, which contains 5% provitamin B5.
